5.0 Costa Rican whole bean dark roast

by Diane Macdonell from Amelia Island on Feb 10, 2012

Growing up in Louisiana, I was a big fan of strong, dark roast coffee. It was hard to fine in the rest of the US except in gourmet resteruants. After visiting Costa Rica and finding out that I could order on line, I have my strong dard coffee every day. Thanks. Diane MacDonell

5.0 dark roast mmm!

by Aylla from So. Cali on Jan 30, 2012

Visited Costa Rica few years ago and this is all I drink now. The dark roast coffee just has just the right amount of flavor. I still try other coffee brands or different types of beans from Costa Rica, but this, this one is amazing. I always come back to it, my family makes sure we don't go a week without it!

4.0 Costa Rica Dark Roast

by Floyd Holloway from Venice on Jan 22, 2012

A very good roast. No taste of bitterness. A good starter for the day. Also good as iced coffee although I don't use ice - just put it in the refrigerator to chill, add light cream and soy milk in equal portions.

5.0 dark roast whole bean

by Kimett from Cave Creek on Jan 13, 2012

I tried this coffee 20 years ago, on a ivisit to CR. I was hooked on this coffee, the moment I took my first sip at a coffee tasting seminar. I chose the dark roast whole bean then and I don't drink any other coffee now.

Product Detail

Britt’s Costa Rican Dark Roast is the reason why the world loves Costa Rican coffee – its taste is as enticing as its aroma. Our experts select the beans for this classic blend from different parts of the Central Valley, where a combination of climate and soil produce the world’s best coffees.

The Central Valley’s high altitude causes the beans to mature more slowly. This makes them harder and less porous. Hard-bean coffees have higher acidity — a quality that brings out the coffee’s greatest aromatic features. Hard beans also stand up well to a darker roast.

Our Costa Rica Dark Roast is roasted until the beans show a dark chocolate color and some of their natural oils begin rising to the surface. This gives the brewed coffee a stronger flavor and heavier body. Your senses will discover hints of figs and red wine, with a dried-wood undertone.

Learn why Costa Rica is known for coffee. Gather with your friends for a cafecito and sip our Dark Roast together with a nibble of Britt’s gourmet chocolate.

  • 100% Arabica SHB (Strictly Hard Bean).
  • Kosher certified.
